Torii Leeds Karate Club is proud to be affiliated with JKS England — the official national body representing the Japan Karate Shotorenmei (JKS) in England. JKS England supports members of all ages, abilities, and aspirations in practising traditional Shotokan Karate as taught at the JKS Honbu Dojo in Japan. With deep ties to Japan, our members benefit from unique opportunities, including Dan Grade registration in Japan and access to prestigious training programmes like Teikyo University and the Honbu Dojo Instructor’s Course. As part of a worldwide karate family, JKS England promotes inclusivity through open courses and events led by top instructors from both the UK and Japan.

Torii Leeds is proud to follow the competition pathway set by the World Karate Federation (WKF) — the global governing body for sport karate and the only karate organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee. The WKF sets the gold standard for international competition, from grassroots development to elite world championships.

Through our affiliation with the WKF via national bodies, Torii Leeds students have the opportunity to compete under official WKF rules, gain ranking points, and work towards representing their country on the global stage.

Torii Karate Leeds is proudly affiliated with the English Karate National Governing Body (EKNGB) — the official organisation dedicated to the governance, development, and future of karate in England. The EKNGB works to unify clubs, support athletes and coaches, and raise standards across the country through strong leadership, structured progression, and high-quality events.

Through this affiliation, Torii Karate Leeds members benefit from a clear and inclusive pathway, whether their goals are grassroots participation, personal development, national competition, or international representation. Training follows recognised guidance and modern best practice, ensuring students learn within a safe, professional, and forward-thinking environment.

Torii Leeds is honoured to be affiliated with the British Karate Federation (BKF), the UK's official national governing body for international competitive karate, recognised by both UK Sport and the World Karate Federation. As the umbrella organisation for England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the BKF offers a clear pathway from grassroots karate to elite, Olympic-level competition.

Through this affiliation, Torii Leeds students can train and compete under official WKF rules, gain national ranking points, and take part in prestigious events like the BKF International Open and the Home Nations Championships.
